The older I get, the more I tend to lean toward wanting to see the church (and myself) be less focused on the material (and in this case, the 'excellent' or the 'relevant') and more focused on helping to meet the basic needs of the poor. How we balance all of this, I am not sure. But if people want a faith that is relevant, shouldn't we take it to the streets using more than just a tract and an invitation to a cool, hip service?
