T Minus 3 Days, and counting…
Did you know that the most common way people catch a cold is by rubbing their noses or eyes after touching someone or something that’s contaminated with the cold virus? Studies show that the single most important thing we can do to keep from getting sick and spreading illness to others is to clean our hands! It’s really quite easy… In fact, let me give you the steps I take when I go to a specific store (ahhum, Wal-Mart). Actually, I don’t like this store at all… Some people laugh at me for this, but the store is open 24×7x365 and because of that, it doesn’t seem like they ever clean it. Blah… Anyway, I digress!
Step 1:
Open the door to the restroom by leaning your back into the door. Be sure NOT to touch the handle or any part of the door. If it is a pull door, put your hand up under your shirt and use your shirt as protection… Again, do not touch the door!
Step 2:
Check to make sure you have complete ownership of the paper-towel dispenser and dispense out about 3 - 4 feet of paper-towel. Be sure that your paper-towel does not hang too far that it touches the floor or swings back and touches the wall.
Step 3:
Do your “business”. NEVER under any circumstance, drop a “Deuce Deuce” in any public place!
Step 4:
Turn on the water and get as much soap on your hands as possible… lather, rinse and repeat if necessary… DO NOT (and I repeat) DO NOT turn off the water at this point.
Step 5:
Proceed to the aforementioned paper-towel dispenser and retrieve your pre-dispensed towel. Dry your hands completely and utilize the leftover paper-towel to turn off the water in the sink.
Step 6:
Proceed to the toilet that you used and use a piece of the leftover paper-towel to flush the toilet.
Step 7:
Proceed to the door and use the final piece of leftover paper-towel to open the door, ensuring that you do not touch any part of the door or handle. Once the door is open, hold the door open with your foot and stretch out as far as you can to try to throw the remaining paper-towel in the trash. If you can’t quite reach the trash, take a basketball shot and pray to God that you make it. Either way, run as fast as you can out of the bathroom door to ensure that no other germs, etc. attack you in that horrible place.
